Before setting out on a journey, if you have the support of a family member or assistant, we invite you to contact the ATM Freephone Number 800.80.81.81 for information on your desired route

On the Underground

Toilets
We are working to refurbish the toilets in the most crowded stations: hitherto work has been completed at Cordusio and Garibaldi FS. In 2009 toilet refurbishment work is planned for the Duomo, S. Babila and Loreto stations; maintenance work will be carried out on toilets at Bisceglie, Rho Fiera, Famagosta, Centrale FS and Maciachini.

Visual Confirmation of Ticket Stamping

At the entrance barriers, when you stamp your ticket, the stamping machine/card reader will display a message telling you if your ticket has been correctly stamped and if the barrier is open or closed.

Visual Display of Train Destination and Waiting Times
The mid-level areas of the following stations have displays showing the destination of the next train and the waiting times: Lotto fieramilanocity, Amendola, Cadorna F.N. Triennale, Cairoli, Duomo, S. Babila, Garibaldi FS, Lambrate FS and Rogoredo. These displays are also present on all platforms on Line 1, Line 3 and Line 2 stations between Abbiategrasso and Cascina Gobba.

Emergency Alarm Devices in Stations
At several points in every station, on both mid-level areas and platforms, there are alarm systems consisting of a red flashing light with a noise alarm. If these devices go off there is an emergency and the station should be evacuated.

Onboard Trains
The front of each train and the side of each carriage has a display showing the train’s destination. On the latest generation Meneghino trains, introduced in March 2009, there is also a video system inside carriages showing the destination and the next stop.

Assistance in Case of Need
In the event of need we advise you to contact the Station Operator directly.

All Line 3 platforms have 3 emergency video-intercom systems which allow you to contact the Operator directly: this system consists of an intercom with an internal video camera showing the face of the person asking for assistance.
When new CCTV cameras are installed in 2009 we will also equip the platforms of ten stations on Line 1 and Line 2 with emergency systems for requesting help.
Our Operators constantly monitor the platforms of all stations using CCTV cameras connected to the monitors in their booth; these images can also be seen from the Control Room.

Surface Vehicles

Visual Displays Showing Next Vehicle to Arrive
We are gradually installing bus shelters at all stops on surface routes. These new shelters have information displays showing the next vehicle to arrive, waiting times and up-to-date information on Milan travel.

Onboard Vehicles
When you stamp your ticket, the stamping machine/card reader will display a message to tell you if your ticket has been stamped correctly or not.
Some bus routes have a visual display system showing the next stop. This service will be gradually extended to all routes during work to update the telecommunications network. The system is already installed on all new vehicles.
We have recently installed LCD displays on the 500 buses serving city routes. These, in addition to showing the destination and the next stop, provide information helping passengers to orient themselves in the city in the form of electronic maps and are connected to ATM’s Traffic Information service for real time news on Milan traffic.
