Easy, practical and eco-friendly: this is the new
bike sharing service developed for the Milan municipality. Designed to allow the citizens of Milan to travel in an
alternative way to trains or buses, this is not merely a bike-hire service but a
public transport system for use on short journeys in combination with ATM’s more traditional means of transport.
Subscribers to the service may use one of the
1500 bikes available at pick-up points to reach their destination and then return it to the nearest station.
BikeMi is the most appropriate response to a city asking for less traffic, fewer traffic jams, less pollution. The service combines utility with fun, allowing users to exercise, keep in shape and combat stress.
This project is still in its initial phases and we aim to gradually increase the number of
BikeMi pick-up points, located near strategic spots throughout Milan: from train stations to universities, hospitals to tourism hot spots, underground stations to car parks and local government offices and shopping areas. To complete this service,
50 kilometers of new cycle track is currently under construction, in keeping with the sustainable transport policies implemented by the Milan town council and in line with initiatives in major European cities.
