SostaMilanoSMS is a service which allows you to pay for parking with a simple text message. To access our service you need to buy a SostaMilanoSMS card worth € 10, € 30 or € 50 on line (Italian only website); the sticker to display in your car will be sent to you at home

Activating your PIN

To activate your 12-character PIN (e.g. A00123456789) you can call the ATM Freephone number 800.80.81.81 or go to the SostaMilanoSMS website (Italian only).
During the registration process you will be supplied with a PIN Portfolio and a password, the codes you will need to manage all future services and phone and internet payment activities. Please store them with care

Registering your details with your PIN

Before you can begin to pay for parking with text messages you need to associate your PIN with the licence plate numbers of the car (or cars) you marked with the SostaMilanoSMS sticker when you purchased your card. During this phase you can also supply your personal details so we can bill you and send tax receipts to your home.
To simplify paying for parking you can replace the 12-character PIN (e.g. A00123456789) with a 6-character MINI PIN (e.g. a123xy).

Paying for parking

Every time you pay for parking you will need to:

identify the 4-figure code of the area where you wish to park. You will find this code on the vertical signs (e.g. j033) near the blue lines
choose whether to activate open or closed parking
send a text message to 342.41.34.455 and wait for a confirmation message

Each payment is deducted from your PIN credit until it has been used up. If you have insufficient credit the system will inform you directly by text message.

Open Parking

Allows you to park for an unspecified period. You will need to send a text message to activate parking and another to deactivate parking. To activate the service send a message starting with the first letter of the required function (I for ‘Inizio sosta’: start parking), your PIN/MINI PIN and the parking area code separated by full stops as shown below:

To deactivate the service send a message starting with the first letter of the required function (F for ‘Fine sosta’: stop parking) followed by your PIN/MINI PIN separated by a full stop as shown below:

Closed parking

Allows you to park for a specified period. You will need to send a single text message starting with the first letter of the required function (I for ‘Inizio sosta’: start parking), your PIN/MINI PIN, the parking area code and the number of hours you wish to park (maximum 5 hours). All these pieces of information must be separated by full stops as shown below:

Changing data and account information

If you send a text message with the wrong data you can send another message containing the correct information within ten minutes. To check your credit, payments and parking history you can view your online account on the SostaMilanoSMS website (Italian only).

Adding credit

To top up your PIN credit you will need to buy a SostaMilanoSMS card and send a message with the first letter of the required function (R for Ricarica: top-up), your 12-character PIN and the top-up PIN (found on the card) as shown below:
